Choose a scoring wheel for sheet glass

Match the head, wheel and handle to the line you need to follow.

Read the complete model number

Fletcher lists separate narrow and wide heads in its Designer II series. The 01-714 and 01-715 both use a pistol handle, so the handle alone will not tell you which head is fitted. Start by comparing the working end.

Match the shape of the work

For a paper pattern with several tight turns, compare how much of the line you can see next to the head. For a straight score along a guide, compare how the cutter rides against it. If you need a repeatable circle diameter, check the working range of a circle cutter.

Keep replacements in the correct family

The package may contain a cutter and a separate bottle of fluid or just a cutter. A replacement head has to match the existing body. Record the body’s model and the head code before ordering.

Guide questions

Does an oil-fed cutter need its own pliers?

The wheel creates the score. Running pliers are a separate tool for opening the score when the method and glass thickness call for them.

Can one handle take both a narrow and a wide head?

Check the manufacturer’s list for the exact cutter. The matching model and replacement code matter more than the handle shape.

What should I check if I already have cutting fluid?

Compare the exact wheel and head in the bare tool and bundle. The cutter and fluid can be separate buying decisions.

Which accessory suits the job?

  1. Fletcher’s 01-714 is a narrow-head cutter. The Toyo bundle supplies a cutter and oil. Compare the head style first, then decide whether you need fluid in the same purchase.

  2. Compare the adjustable saddle of the Custom-Grip with the straight brass barrel of the TC10B. Check replacement fit separately because the Custom-Grip uses a different head family.

  3. The TC10H has the smaller head for working around a pattern. The TC17H has the larger profile to compare for straight work. Match your cutter body before choosing either head.

  4. GAI supplies four fluid ounces and documents the application for Toyo Supercutters. The UniKitchen bottle holds eight fluid ounces. Confirm cutter-fluid fit before comparing volume.
